Christiano Amon, the CEO of Qualcomm, one of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, has shown that AI can emerge as a virtual entity with near-limitless cognitive capabilities that are no longer “confined” within the boundaries of applications like ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini. According to Amon, the AI entity will become an “agent” that is “alive” and can be part of us in managing various technology-related tasks. For example, if you want to shop in a marketplace that is entirely in the Indonesian language, such as Lokapasar internet, it will be the one to check availability, choose the best price options, read relevant quality reviews of products and services, and even analyze your financial situation in the online banking system to ensure that your purchase decision is correct and in line with your financial profile and real needs. Then, this AI agent will also carry out the transaction authorization on your behalf.

As a consequence, if your biometric data, which serves as a medium for authentication, identification, and authorization, is now the AI agent’s special metric code, then the AI agent will become your representative.

The most fitting name for Amon’s AI agent, which he presented at the Snapdragon Summit 2024 recently held in Maui, in Indonesian, might be PunoKAI, right? An agent based on Akal Imitation.

It turns out that Amon’s dream is immediately followed by the capabilities offered through Honor’s Autopilot AI innovation, named after a famous city in China that is home to many Pandas. Honor’s Autopilot AI can already perform various functions of Amon’s agent when interacting with various applications such as WeChat and AliPay.

One important note is that to bring this AI agent to life on your personal device (mobile phone), robust on-device data processing capabilities are needed to meet the AI’s requirements. In other words, any Akal Imitation product must be able to run on your phone without the need to send data and requests, such as prompts, to servers in the cloud, which can cause delays depending on network latency and the data processing capabilities of the GPU. The result can be fast or slow depending on the conditions, time, and place.

In support of the AI on-device concept, Qualcomm has launched the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, which has processing capabilities comparable to a desktop PC. The Snapdragon 8 Elite features a special chip variant known as the Neural Processing Unit or NPU, or Hexagon NPU, specifically designed to support AI on-device mechanisms.

Seeing this development, it is no surprise that Eric Dulkeith, or Mas Dul from IBM Research, believes that in the near future, AI agents will have specialized functional capabilities. For example, they will play a special role in designing the architecture of a system, coding programs, designing UI/UX, and creating business models for related applications.

Based on this concept, Mas Dul can predict the emergence of a communication need among agents so that they can work systematically and organized. If previously, communication studies faculties at universities studied cross-cultural communication, now these universities or faculties need to undergo reorientation to produce new communication sciences that can accommodate Akal Imitation agents, or PunoKAI, agents of Akal Imitation, which also have the potential to imitate, right?

Professional education programs such as PPDS or specialized profession education need to revitalize their vision and mission, as well as curricula that can accommodate AI agents like those of anesthesiologists. Also, dermatovenereologists or venereologists, pathologists, anatomists, oncologists, and many other specialized consulting professions.

I myself am quite excited, although at the moment I have not yet acquired the more efficient AI on-device, which is supposed to be more energy-efficient and faster in response, but a little more can already integrate the analytical functions of the Transformer model in Generative AI and Deep Learning to analyze nutritional needs, nutritional content, or nutritional status and recommendations so that daily nutritional needs can be met.

According to the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, the Recommended Daily Intake (RDI) is the average amount of nutrients that must be met every day by everyone. The RDI varies for each person, depending on factors such as age, gender, physical activity level, and body weight.

For Indonesia, the recommended RDI is 2,100 calories per day for energy and 57 grams per day for protein. To calculate the RDI, you can use the following formula:

For Men: 66 + (13.7 x weight(kg)) + (5 x height(cm)) — (6.8 x age)

For Women: 655 + (9.6 x weight(kg)) + (1.8 x height(cm)) — (4.7 x age)

Additionally, you can calculate the daily caloric needs by estimating the Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) and the level of daily activity. The BMR calculation result is multiplied by the average daily activity level, which ranges between 1.2–1.9.

The RDI (Recommended Daily Intake) percentage indicates the contribution of a product to daily needs. For example, if the %RDI shows a value of 20%, then the nutritional needs have been met by 20%. Gen AI or Transformer can help you calculate your nutritional needs and recommendations with the RDI through analysis of images/photos of the food you consume and the bio-anthropometric data you input.

In addition to analyzing your nutritional needs, PunoKAI or your AI agent can help you plan physical activities and exercises that are suitable for you. The AI agent can calculate how much you need to walk today, how long the appropriate cardio activity should be, what kind of exercise is suitable, and many other related things.

To make it more interactive, you can also try using the augmented reality avatar model from Arloopa, which can now communicate through gestures that express DNA aspects and other affective aspects. I made it my AI agent in the context of health. Like a Personal Health Assistant that is smart, talkative, and can even be a bit chatty.

The integration of the virtual world with entities manifested in augmented reality (AR), combined with AI with super cognitive intelligence and highly sensitive affective capabilities, has the potential that cannot be ignored. The question is, do we already have a roadmap in the process of revitalization and reorientation of our existence? Can the essence of our presence, which was once felt to be exclusive in the context of the construction of perception and the meaning of life, now become a competitive and complementary strength? Therefore, it is important for us to contemplate and begin to re-conceptualize Akal Imitation so that it can manage the potential of Akal Imitation within a synergistic mechanism that presents clarity and harmony.
